Old is the new, new.
A collaboration between three home grown beauties. The unity of a trio of creatives who together create, produce and appreciate beauty; being both tangible and visual.
Re-use, re-cycle and re-create. There is something so beautiful about ones ability to refurbish something old\ depleted into something that withholds a new purpose. With this admiration in mind ,Hunter created @kupids_Kloset whereby she spends hour scouring op-shops, markets and Etsy for depleted treasures that can be transformed into adornments to be worn and admired.
This shoot was a collaboration on our home turf of the Northern Rivers, a place which withholds the uttermost significance to all three of us. A place whereby beauty shines through to inspire all. A place where young creatives are free to explore their passions with synchronised freedom. For that we are eternally thankful.
Let me introduce ourselves. Whilst we are not born and raised Northern Rivers kids, each of us have been fortunate enough to call this place home. We have been welcomed into this community with open arms, in time when acceptance and guidance was desired.
A collaboration between stylist\ designer Hunter Blue and writer\ advocate Sophie Marsh. This shoot was drawn together through a universal appreciation for the feminine beauty and the restoration of the old and the new.
Growing up with Hunter she has always had the most expansive wardrobe. Pieces found from local Sydney markets, vintage shops and thrifting up and down the coast. You can only imagine the fun we had as young teenage girls running through the streets of Sydney’s East dressed to the nines.
Kupids Kloset was born from this passion, whereby she shifts jewellery and refurbishes them in bold, wild and most often wacky one-off pieces she calls ‘Kupids Candies’.
I spoke with Hunter briefly on what it was that inspired her into the career she has found herself so passionately exploring:
HUNTER: I would say my passion comes from the excitement of experimentation and the unknown. The
desire to use my imagination with a youthful spirit. I don’t think we ever need to stop playing dress ups.
I can recall from a very young age admiring Hunters passion. Now that we have grown up, that admiration shines stronger as I have watched her flourish into this neo-fashion stylist\ designer who has carried through those childhood quirks through to her adult self.
HUNTER: I started styling when I was just five-teen years old. I would say I’ve always been obsessed with fashion from a very young age for as long as I can remember I have always desired to dress myself and others. Both my parents are very creative, so I grew up around that lifestyle.
Today we are unfortunately surrounded by a world in which fashion has become unethical and mass produced. The world momentarily has lost touch with the art of creation and manufacturing pieces on an individual based level which has resulted in us relying heavily on the current unsustainable production of fashion.
Hunter offers a little beacon of hope in this statement, and is a prime example as to why we must encourage and shine light on designers\ producers who pave the future of fashion into a more ethical and sustainable approach.
