1. Tell us who you are?

Hi, I'm Scout. 

I am a Sydney born human that has found refuge in the beautiful Northen Rivers of NSW. What makes me, me? I guess I am a product of my environment in which I surround myself. My own concept of me is forever evolving, changing both for good and for the bad. For now, I am a twenty-four-year-old post-pandemic anxiety driven female who is apprehensive yet excited about the future and struggles on a daily basis between pursuing her creative ideals whilst hustling to keep her head afloat.   

 

2. Explain what has been inspiring you lately?

My immediate surroundings inspire me.

I am sheltering in this beautiful region which has simultaneously turned me a human-lizard-dolphin hybrid as my days are spent either frolicking in the ocean or basking the sun.  That being the picture-esk place I am fortunate enough to call home and more importantly those who surround me. I moved from the city almost two years ago and since have found myself surrounded by the most kind-hearted, talented and nurturing humans some of which I have captured in this photo series. Since I can remember, I have always been inspired by people and their stories, I guess that is what has driven me to explore story telling through a lens...

 

 

3. One favourite moment from the shoot that was or wasn't captured?

I actually got really excited by Lady-Jane Doc Martens and straight away put them on. Self-timer and being in front of the camera freaks me out but I really felt the need to capture this outfit. So, I set up a little tripod made out of wood, chased down my cat and dog and demanded them to get in the photo with me. Excited and overwhelmed by this pair of shoes, I stumbled, tripped and fell off the balcony just as the photo was taken. The beauty of shooting film is that you cannot see what was captured until its developed. So, we will see. I am now wearing a large deep purple bruise above my knee that makes me giggle every time I look down and see it.

4. Three interesting/weird facts about you that will make us go Ooo Ahh?

1. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a HUGE habit of turning every PowerPoint off and triple checking appliances are off. It's a fine line between being OCD and having a phobia of burning the house down. My camera roll is photos of unplugged irons, PowerPoints turned off and my oven. Goodluck trying to charge your phone at night as I can guarantee I won't sleep unless that cord had been ejected from the power socket. 
    

2. I am a terrible story teller. Well, that is unless you like stories that have absolutely no punch line, beat around the bush and come to zero conclusion. I think my friends have stopped listening to me, in all good reason of course. 
    

3. I have an unhealthy obsession with my car. Her name is Petite Rouge and is a cherry red 1988 Toyota Camry. Before her, the obsession was with my little red Honda CTT110 Postie bike. It seems to be a re-occurring theme. I also don't even really like the colour red.

5. What's your party trick?

It's kind of sad, and I wish I could give you a better answer. But I don't think I have one.... I guess if I have to say something, my party trick would be my inability to dance as a result of having two left feet and absolutely no co-ordination.

6. What is your number one ick?

People who use the term 'what-not'.

Wing it or plan it? 
Plan it, and then once it's been planned, scrap it all and wing it. She is indecisive.

Crunchy PB or Smooth PB? 

CRUNCHY alllll the way. I will never understand those who pick smooth, I bet they don't like pulp in their o.j either...

 

Warm or Cold holiday?

Warm holiday. Although I was recently in Tassie and surprisingly enjoyed the cold.

Pluggers-yes or no? 
What the hell is a plugger? I am going to say no as I don't want to be held accountable for agreeing to something I shouldn't. 

Early bird or night owl?

 Can I say both? I love an early wake up and getting everything I need to get done by 9AM but I also love the nocturnal life-style. It's an unhealthy balance.
 

Sweet or savoury?

Savoury, give me avo on toast any day. 
 

Canon or Nikon?

Nikon L35AD point and shoot.
